The New York Fertility Center, one of the first IVF clinics established in Queens, New York, promises a streamlined experience from the initial consultation throughout treatment. With a focus on treatment customization, the facility aims to cover the full spectrum of fertility services.

But is its approach comprehensive enough to encompass the entire process, or are there still gaps you’d need to fill?

This review takes a closer look at the New York Fertility Center services, reviews, and transparency regarding costs and success rates, helping you make informed decisions about your IVF treatment.

The New York Fertility Center overview

With offices in Flushing (Colden Street) and Manhattan (Broadway), the New York Fertility Center (NYFC) provides fertility treatment at both locations. Depending on your needs and treatment goals, you can explore six main services:

  1. Infertility evaluation

  2. Donor services

  3. In vitro fertilization (IVF)

  4. Intrauterine insemination (IUI)

  5. Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD)

  6. Preimplantation genetic screening (PGS)

PhD embryologists operate in-house laboratories that enable patients to complete all necessary screenings on site. Through this start-to-finish approach, NYFC aims to reduce unnecessary logistical burden and serve as a centralized hub for fertility care. Focusing on tailored treatment plans and diagnostics, the clinic also provides financial assistance and handles insurance verification through a dedicated internal team.

The New York Fertility Center: Dr. Tsai’s team

Source: The New York Fertility Center

Dr. Tony Tsai is the founder and Medical Director of the New York Fertility Center, and an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Cornell University. An extensive list of his credentials and accomplishments also includes the position as Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at New York-Presbyterian Queens.

Dr. Tsai also specializes in endometriosis management, fibroids, uterine septum, Asherman syndrome, and surgical management of pelvic pain. Performing more than 100 myomectomies annually, Dr. Tsai pioneered a staged laparoscopic/hysteroscopic approach. With this technique, large fibroids can be removed safely in multiple stages when a single procedure isn’t feasible.

Dr. Tsai’s team also includes Yanna Dostova, FNP-C, the only nurse practitioner in New York City who carries out both IVF egg retrievals and embryo transfers. She’s also qualified to perform a variety of advanced hysteroscopic procedures.

Dr. Huai L. Feng completes the team as the Director of the reproductive medicine laboratories at the New York Fertility Center, and an expert in embryology, andrology, and reproductive medicine.

What the New York Fertility Center offers: 6 key aspects

The NYFC positions itself as a one-stop destination for fertility care, emphasizing a personalized approach tailored to each individual case. We’ll examine the six key aspects of patient experience to evaluate the clinic:

  1. Scope of services

  2. Accessibility and convenience

  3. Inclusivity and special programs

  4. The New York Fertility Center reviews

  5. Cost transparency

  6. Success rates

2. Accessibility and convenience

By opening a second clinic in Manhattan, the NYFC made its services much more accessible to prospective patients. However, while the New York Fertility Center in Flushing operates Monday through Saturday (with shorter hours on Friday and Saturday), the Manhattan location is open to visitors only three days a week. Hours also vary by day, with the clinic open for only two hours on Thursdays.

Consultations do not have to be in person; the clinic offers one-hour online appointments. The price isn’t disclosed on the website and depends on the insurance. The online appointment is easily scheduled via their website, with available dates and hours clearly displayed.

For greater convenience, the NYFC created an integrated system that covers three key areas:

  1. Information and planning: The clinic offers virtual and in-person consultations focused on fertility assessments and next steps.

  2. On-site care: Proprietary laboratories support facility-based screening (e.g., in-house live semen analysis), while a broad range of on-site diagnostics and treatments reduces the need for external appointments.

  3. Administrative coordination: Insurance verification is managed internally to identify the most viable financial options for each case.

While the official website mentions financial guidance and insurance management, the specifics of these benefits aren’t disclosed before the paid consultation.

3. Inclusivity and special programs

As part of its full-range, inclusive fertility care, the New York Fertility Center offers egg and sperm donor services and surrogacy coordination.

Regardless of personal circumstances or medical status, the clinic offers consultations to all individuals exploring fertility options, providing a personalized approach tailored to each case. For example, intralipid therapy is designed to support women with impaired immunity, while egg and sperm preservation allow patients to control the timing during their fertility journey.

The clinic also offers a special program for public service workers, including:

  • Teachers

  • City employees

  • Law enforcement professionals

  • Healthcare workers

The program includes flexible scheduling to accommodate fluctuating shifts and offers special pricing for public employees. Details of the program, including pricing adjustments, are not disclosed on the website.

4. The New York Fertility Center reviews

With an average Google rating of 4.6 across both locations, NYFC has received numerous positive patient reviews citing Dr. Tsai’s expertise and clear communication. Many reviewers highlight Dr. Tsai’s commitment to patients, attention to detail, and compassion. The staff, including the team handling the financial process, is also frequently praised for professionalism.

Several reviewers note the convenience of on-site laboratory services and the team's involvement throughout the process. One patient shared that a procedure was even performed on a holiday, expressing appreciation for the staff’s dedication.

The 2.8 FertilityIQ score, by contrast, indicates frustration among some patients, most commonly related to long wait times. Several reviews point to informational gaps and miscommunication, with details sometimes differing between phone calls and in-person consultations. Other recurring concerns include parking issues, small waiting rooms, and overbooking at the clinic.

It’s worth noting that the FertilityIQ score is based on only six reviews, while Google includes a much larger volume of generally positive feedback. That said, extended waiting times are also mentioned in some positive reviews.

5. Cost transparency

The clinic's official website doesn’t provide pricing information for its services, aside from semen analysis, which is listed at $390. In a video introduction of the clinic, Dr. Tsai notes that consultation and treatment fees vary by insurance and promises the internal team’s assistance with all financial matters, including insurance verification and different payment plans.

A 2018 FertilityIQ review reports approximately $5,000 in out-of-pocket expenses for consultations and a hysteroscopic procedure, with IVF covered by insurance. In a more recent review from 2022, a patient cited paying $15,000 for a single IVF cycle.

A separate reviewer noted that the clinic offers third-party financing and package plans for self-pay patients. Their transfer cycle, which included ICSI, monitoring, egg retrieval, and related procedures, totaled $14,000.

6. Success rates

The NYFC doesn’t publicly disclose success rates. One potential explanation for this reduced transparency appears in a statement on the official website, where the clinic emphasizes that high success rates do not necessarily reflect better care and notes that patients are not viewed as statistics.

However, a 2016 CDC report, verified by the Medical Director, provides some insight into the clinic’s reported outcomes for transfers (involving fresh embryos from fresh non-donor eggs):

When reviewing success rates, note that treatment choices and medical details can vary widely. Patients undergoing the procedures may face different health-related challenges, including:

  • Diminished ovarian reserve

  • Uterine factors

  • Male factor infertility

  • Endometriosis

Is the New York Fertility Center the right choice for you?

Although some reviews describe it as a small clinic, NYFC offers multilayered fertility care, including innovative procedures performed by experienced specialists. From diagnostics to treatments and supplemental care, the clinic operates as a centralized fertility center for singles, couples, and LGBTQ+ patients.

However, the limited transparency regarding pricing, insurance coverage, and success rates leaves patients with numerous questions that can only be addressed through a paid consultation. Several reviews also mention long waiting times, and the limited hours of the New York Fertility Center in Manhattan may further affect overall accessibility.

The clinic also doesn’t specify whether it offers advanced genetic testing, mentioning only PGD and PGS without detailing specific testing options.

Preconception and preimplantation genetic testing are of great value to all patients, regardless of their medical history. These tests offer deeper insight into your and your baby’s genetic health, and are helpful for optimizing IVF outcomes.

If comprehensive fertility care for you means greater control over embryo selection and genetic screening, programs like Nucleus can be an excellent fit. You get a detailed embryo analysis and undergo carrier screening for deep insights into your and your future child’s genetic status, which helps in making optimal choices regarding the IVF method and embryo selection.

Try IVF with Nucleus Embryo for deeper embryo insights

Nucleus Embryo is a genetic optimization process that helps you understand long-term health risks, longevity, and traits.

IVF is an emotional process, filled with decisions that carry lifelong weight—and today, one of the most important choices is made with limited information. Embryos are typically screened for a small number of rare conditions, without broader insight into the common health risks and traits.

Nucleus Embryo changes that. Designed for those with embryos or going through IVF, it gives parents a clearer, more complete picture of each embryo. Paired with our preconception test, it helps you look at embryos across 2,000+ genetic conditions and traits, from rare disorders to common diseases like cancer and diabetes, and even height and IQ.

You can evaluate up to 20 embryos at a time, and unlike clinical reports, the software interface is designed specifically for future parents: intuitive, clear, and built for you. We also connect you with genetic counselors to unpack results and next steps.

Book a call to talk to our onboarding specialist and discuss your fertility goals.

Conceiving naturally? Try Nucleus Preview

Even if you’re looking to conceive naturally, you can explore preconception carrier screening via Nucleus Preview – which is already included in Nucleus Embryo. This test analyzes your and your partner’s DNA to map your risks for thousands of genetic conditions and longevity traits, with insights that go beyond the rare diseases shown in traditional screening — including common lifelong disease risks, like cancer, diabetes, heart disease, alongside traits like height and eye color.

The results can help you understand what genetic risks and hereditary conditions you can pass on to your kids, which helps your care team personalize your protocols during IVF. Preview also offers sibling-level simulation of genetic risks across 100 potential children, which will help you better contextualize your embryo results and shape IVF decisions.

Nucleus services are available in the U.S., as well as in countries like Canada, Mexico, India, and the Middle East via clinic partners. Find more details on clinic partners here.
