Sequenced in the U.S. on U.S. machines
Nucleus is proud to process all customer samples in the U.S. on U.S. machines.

HIPAA is a federal law that limits the disclosure of your PHI and provides you with other rights with respect to your sensitive health information. You've probably seen HIPAA referenced on forms at the doctor's office. An important part of HIPAA is called the Privacy Rule. The rule ensures that health insurance companies and health care providers like Nucleus operate under strict standards to protect your sensitive health information. This means Nucleus protects your data in accordance with the same standards that apply to hospitals and doctors' offices. You can learn more in our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices.

FURTHER PROTECTION
Stringent security standards
Nucleus has industry-leading cybersecurity companies performing regular penetration tests for network configuration, infrastructure, and application layers.
Your personally identifiable information (like your name and email) is stored in a separate database from your genetic data. This means even if someone could access one of these databases, they could not connect your identity to your genetic data, or vice versa.
Data encryption (also called “encryption at rest”) is enabled by default for all storage. Keys are managed by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and are stored in the AWS key management service.

Where is my DNA sample tested?
add
Your DNA sample is sequenced by one of our service providers — a CLIA-certified, NY CLEP-approved, and CAP-accredited specialized U.S. genomics laboratory in Massachusetts. Your raw DNA data is then analyzed in our CLIA- and CAP-certified informatics laboratory, located in North Carolina. It’s important to note that whenever possible, we separate your identity from your DNA sample throughout the testing process and use only your activation code to track your DNA. This means even our third-party sequencing partner has no way of knowing or identifying which or whose sample is coming in — it’s just a barcode. This is one of many precautionary measures we take to safeguard and protect your privacy.
